# Omnichar ComfyUI nodes reference

> Inputs and outputs of every Omnichar ComfyUI node: Load, Decode, Encode and Save Character, the reference nodes, and Apply Character LoRA.

| Node | Inputs | Outputs |
| - | - | - |
| Load Character | `char`, `char_path` | `char` |
| Decode Character | `char`, `style`, `clip`, `prompt`, `arch`, `max_references`, `size_from`, `fit`, `voice`, `audio_position` | `conditioning`, `references`, `refs`, `sheet`, `prompt`, `voice` |
| Character Reference | `refs`, `index` | `image`, `role`, `count` |
| Character References Split | `refs` | `image_0` to `image_4`, `count` |
| Character Reference Latent | `conditioning`, `refs`, `vae` | `conditioning` |
| Apply Character LoRA | `model`, `clip`, `char`, `strength`, `arch`, `min_key_coverage` | `model`, `clip` |
| Encode Character | `name`, `description`, `resolution`, `face` / `body` / `cloths` (3 slots each), `voice` | `char` |
| Save Character | `char`, `filename`, `overwrite` | `path` |

## Load Character

Picks a `.char` from `ComfyUI/models/characters/`, or reads one from `char_path`.

## Decode Character

Turns a character into a prompt and a resolved list of references. Wire a CLIP to get conditioning out directly, or take the prompt as text.

* `references` is one batch, for models that read a single batch of images.
* `refs` keeps each reference in its numbered position, for the nodes below.

## Feeding references to a model

How you wire `refs` depends on how the model reads references:

| Model reads references as | Example | Wire `refs` into |
| - | - | - |
| One batch | - | Use `references` from Decode Character directly |
| Numbered slots | MiniMax H3 | Character References Split, or one Character Reference node per slot |
| Latents | FLUX.2 | Character Reference Latent, on both positive and negative conditioning |

Reference order is kept from end to end, because the prompt addresses images by number.

## Apply Character LoRA

When a character carries a trained LoRA, this node applies it to MODEL and CLIP. Use it for models with no reference channel, like Krea 2.

## Encode Character and Save Character

Encode Character builds a new `.char` from up to three face, three body and three wardrobe images, a description and an optional voice clip. It sorts them by role, so the face comes first. Save Character writes the result to `ComfyUI/models/characters/`.
