A .char file isn’t locked to Omnichar. If your tool generates images or video, it can read a character’s reference images, description, LoRA and voice, and apply them itself.

Python SDK

omnichar-sdk opens a .char and hands back its parts. Apache-2.0, no required dependencies.

Command line

omnichar-sdk inspect --json prints a whole character, so a tool in any language can read one.

Licence

The SDK is Apache-2.0, so closed-source tools can read .char files. The rest of the ComfyUI-Omnichar repository is GPL-3.0-or-later.
An HTTP API is planned. This section will cover it when it ships.
